hidden tracks, edits and dj-mixes as well as useless but interesting gossip, dedicated to the last four decades of house and disco music. keep the fire burning...
DIKSO welcomes 2014 with an EP from DEATH ON THE BALCONY, two handsome boys from London that perfectly fit in the gap between the different styles that Dikso is all about. Their biography sounds like that their way sooner or later had to lead to Dikso. Let’s celebrate this meeting at the crossways of musical history with three brandnew original tracks plus a remix from Dikso landlord Daniel Solar.
Tracklisting:
01 – Speak On The Subject / TT 07:36
02 – Make My Move / TT 07:13
03 – Heart For Rent / TT 08:04
04 – Heart For Rent (Daniel Solar Remix) / TT 07:36

As you may have noticed already, we at Dikso headquarters are totally in love with The House Of Disco, David Magnier's label for the future in house and disco. To fill the summer with some love Dikso and The House Of Disco created a label-mash-up-compilation called House Of Dikso that topped the charts at Junodownload and was also pretty successful on all the other platforms like Beatport and Traxsource. But this was not their first collaboration, Daniel and Andi's disco house roller "Seventh" was also released under the House Of Disco banner and can still be found in Beatport's Nu-Disco top 100 (for almost 2 months and counting...).
Now, here is the return visit: Magnier on Dikso. Have fun with 60 minutes of pure bliss he sent over the channel to Berlin, and now from Berlin right into your hearts. Tracklisting is still shut away, only MI5 knows!
What happens when two of the freshest labels join forces........this, the "House of Dikso". While so many labels chose to compete and run parallel to each other the boys over at Dikso and House of Disco Records have decided to bridge the gap and work together to bring us 12 of the best tracks they can get their mits on. Rammed full of emerging talent and established producers 'House of Dikso', the first in a series of label collaborations, aims to showcase sounds from the spectrum of disco and house, remaining ever optimistic and uplifting. Initially a digital release the 4 most popular tracks will then be pressed onto a limited edition vinyl. If the history of these two labels is anything to go by this will have more gems on it then Lady Gaga's bra.
Norways rising star has been making waves with his 2 latest releases, one of which topped beatports charts for weeks. His style is pure atmosphere and almost eerie in nature, Bleedin Out reinforces his sound. This track is stripped down to essential elements leaving the vocals to stand out and the bassline to ripple through your sensibilities.
02 / Nhan Solo – Hey Girl! / TT 6:32
Recently providing tracks to Hamburg's 'DIYnamic' label and Dikso has propelled Nhan Solo into to path of many house-heads. This offering is a more low slung affair, sultry and loaded with spadefuls of 70's porno sleaze this one should make it into your sex mix.
03 / Luminodisco - Dreaming Siam / TT 6:58
Having previously released on House of Disco Records Luminodisco's adept production skills have already been established. This time around he's given us a meaty, woozy, charming track that rolls over and over, developing more personality with every revolution. Its dense sound punctuated by key changes and a tonal but addictive vocal sample.
04 / Daniel Solar – Hush / TT 6:19
Fresh off the back of a release on Instruments of Rapture, Daniel Solar's track 'Hush' is a moody pulsing house excursion. Twirling vocals and a muscular bassline and kick give this track a hypnosis and drive that is testament to his production skill and detriment to you remaining sitting down.
05 / Monitor 66 – Masséna / TT 4:56
House of Disco's latest find Monitor 66, hailing from Sweden, make sunset inspired music. This melodic laid-back track will make sunset last a lot longer than it should. The arrangement of this track makes it a standout soundtrack to your summer. Using a popular vocal from the 90's to tease your memory, can you guess what it is?
06 / Andrea Britton & Alexander Roggendorf - Not Before I See You First (Andi de Luxe Remix) / TT 6:59
This remix by the other half of the Dikso duo injects some gloss into the compilation with some saturated sunny notes. A poppy vocal is the catalyst for the feel of this track. Its is the kind of thing that goes well with sand, soundsystems and sunglasses.
07 / Alex Niggemann & Daniel Solar feat. Natalie Claude - Moments / TT 6:11
Having just released his album Alex Niggemann has teamed up with Dikso bossman Daniel Solar and honey voiced Natalie Claude to deliver an uptempo but classy bomb with soul. With a grounded warm vocal and spacey synths you find yourself suspended in mid-air somewhere between the two, with a smile on your face.
08 / Tesla Boy - In Your Eyes (Satin Jackets Remix) / TT 8:29
Russia's Tesla Boy and Satin Jackets seems like a perfect match. This epic track provokes a real emotional response, Tesla Boys vocals lend themselves perfectly to Satin Jackets detailed production style to create something that can make a grown man leak a sneaky tear.
09 / Unsui – Anata / TT4:22
Emerging talent Unsui creates a vintage but lush soundscape of contemplation house. An insanely catchy groove is pierced by a synth that's straight out of Blade Runner. Not in a rush this tracks confidence and dynamics clear your head while at the same time making your hairs stand on end.
10 / Dublin Aunts - Near Me Now / TT 6:13
Melbourne based duo Dublin Aunts are on the rise. 'Near me now' is a boogie infused house stomper. Strong Hi-Hats and a hooky bassline proves that you don't need to over complicate a track, quality over quantity. Uplifting synths and 'that vocal' will you you boogieing into the early hours.
11 / Satin Jackets - I Like To Watch You Sleep / TT 9:18
Being the only artists to release on both House of Disco and Dikso Satin Jackets is one artist that simply had to be involved in this compilation. All of his tracks are impossibly warm, forging a smile on the most stringent of faces. 'I like to watch you sleep' is a lullaby of optimism and charm.
12 / Volta Cab - What It Feels Like / TT 3:32
“Prolific” doesn't even come close to describing Volta Cab's output. He takes a break from his harder, throwback house productions to woo us with 'What if feels like'. This track is all about atmosphere, it replicates the moment before you lean in to kiss someone special for the first time. So pucker up.
With podcast number nine we presented a young talent from Greece that Marc Poppcke met at one of his gigs. A super nice guy with a wonderful taste in music and style.
This time it is Daniel who brings us another guy he met at the other side of the globe, Damian Uzabiaga from Playa del Carmen, Mexico. After mexican dream team Balcazar & Sordo delivered our personal summer anthem on the latest edition of "Super Sound Singles", here is the next one from the land of cacti and tequila. Like Balcazar & Sordo, Damian represents a new generation in central american house... Hold it! We now all these different styles of US american house and some latin flavoured stuff that can be roughly assigned to south america. But central america, mexican house music? OK, maybe it's time for a new chapter in house music, welcome to the house of maya...
This is number 10 - how time flies when you're having fun. But this is not the right time to get sentimental because there are four great new tracks for you. Ultrafunkular House from Detroit, ah no... from the land of the rising sun... ah, wrong again... it's from Berlin. And we have label head Daniel Solar collaborating with Huxley, one of UK's definite talents in deeper House. Not to forget Balcazar & Sordo, the intercontinental contribution from Mexico and Satin Jackets. He is about to return to Dikso. Could you celebrate a 10th record more impressive?
A1 / Nhan Solo - Supervisor / TT 05:52
Wow, isn't it one of these million dollar Detroit house classics from discogs? No, it is not and no, it didn't sample such. Nhan Solo an up-and-coming talent from the land of the rising sun created a funky slam dunk for the disco dancefloor with at least one woman on it, stand back and watch them come. This is definitely the supervisor... synthesizer... vitalizer... womanizer... what did he say? Doesn't matter - all that matters is that pure organic bassline groove which drives you on and on....!
A2 / Huxley & Daniel Solar feat. Miss Bee – Dancing With Your Heart / TT 06:43
Label commander Solar and chief officer Huxley from Tsuba and 20:20 Vision bring you something from outer space: Miss Bee. Her voice is so shy and fragile... when she is asking for the next dance you cannot refuse her, especially when she wants your heart. So open it up wide and let all this spring fever in. Green trees, colourful flowers, the happy sound of playing children... Oh my god, this is true, it's springtime. Hopefully it is not a programme on the holodeck, this must be real.
B1 / Balcazar & Sordo – Stay With Me / TT 07:31
Here we have some relaxed mexican vibe: Balcazar & Sordo, well known from No.19 Music and Dirt Crew with a track like a summer breeze, creating a nice and lovely atmosphere with a so so beautiful pianob and voices that are sounding like the Sirens from the Odyssey. OK, I have never heard the Sirens before, but I bet they sound like this.
B2 / Satin Jackets feat. Natalie Conway – One More Chance / TT 08:10
Woohoo, he is back, and he is not alone. Together with Natalie Conway, Satin Jackets beams us right back into that time most of us takes all our inspiration from. But this not an edit, this is fucking real, this is real music. We are really, really proud to have them on board. Watch out, there's more to come...
Do you like what you see? Then hurry up and grab a copy at...
1979 - Video Killed The Radio Star. Radio programmes are for senior citizens, the future is music television.
2011 - Music television is just a shadow of it's former self. In Germany MTV turned pay TV and its sister Viva exchanged the music videos with daily soaps and other stuff for general pubescent interest. Radio Killed The Video Star?
I know wide areas in Germany where you can scrap your radio, nobody needs this boring Top 40 shit or "the best of 80s, 90s and from today". I hope that the people of my hometown Berlin can estimate the value of their high quality variety of different radio stations they have. One of these stations is "Fritz". And one of their hosts is André Langenfeld.
Starting his radio career right after the fall of the wall with a hip hop show on DT64, the legendary legacy of GDR youth radio, you can hear him now on Berlin's Radio Fritz with his 'Nightflight' show that features an intersting and wide range from nu-disco to house, from dubstep to electo. new stuff as well as classic stuff. Every friday night (to saturday) from 0:00 to 5:00 AM or for the following 7 days on: http://fritz.kunden.nc3.de/fritz.samstag.1.pls
Here we have DiKSO podcast #10 and it's a re-recording of a mix André played at the opening night of a new club in the heart of Kreuzberg called "Gretchen".
As you may have noticed, Dikso likes to cross the boundaries of good taste from time to time. And if we love a rework of a cheesy nineties dance anthem, we will release it.
We have never received so many reactions on a release as on Manolo's "Night Rhythm". More than 10.000 plays on Roberto's soundcloud really impressed us. Most of them were thrilled but some people were rather irritated. Phonica reviewed it in their online-store like that: "This love-it-or-hate-it track..." and "a less tacky version of a guilty pleasure or the proof that nu-disco has become the new funky house....answers on a postcard!" Guys, we looove to entertain you... :-)
Fortunately, chartings and massive airplay from Tensnake, Jody Wisternoff, Ooft!, Chopstick & Johnjon, Jacques Renault, Marc Poppcke and DFA's Justin Miller showed that there are people out there who share our strange sense of humour. Also a million thanks to André Langenfeld and Shir-Khan from Radio Fritz and Larse from Einslive for their great support. And Tensnake for promoting it on his facebook page which generated more than 150 likes within 24 hours...
And here is the unavoidable hall of fame:
- Tensnake: "Brilliant!" - Soul Clap: "Can't wait to see the crowd reaction!" - The Revenge: "Dubs for me..." - Daniel from Trickski: "Fun, fun, fun!" and Yannick added: "Hugh release [...] will play both versions" - Chopstick: "I love Dikso! Been playing all the releases so far!!!" and Johnjon added: "HOLY SHIT! [...] The Solar & de Luxe Remix will find its place in a lot of our sets!" - Guy from Sleazy Beats: "Not so keen on the vocal mixes but both dubs will destroy dancefloors I reckon." and Kris added: "I honestly can't get into the vocal cuts because they really remind me of that awful uber pop dance track that played non-stop on the radio in the 80s (or 90s?). Will give the dubs some action though!" - Ali Ooft: "Gotta be Andi & Daniels Dub mix for me. Big track." - Francis Inferno Orchestra: "Absolutely fantastic, 10/10 the whole package is A+++" - Catzn Dogz: "Fantastic release!!" - Till von Sein: "Damn.. the vocal sucks.. biiiig time! but the dubs are cool" - Jody Wisternoff from Way Out West: "Will be hammering this till the cows come home :)" - Danny Howells: "Been DYING to get my hands on this groovy little f***er!!" - Alex Niggemann: "Nice musix for a special moment!" - Dirt Crew: "This is Amazing!!! good times all over" - Jef K. "Waaaa yes yes cant believe u guys did this!!! LOOOL this is great music by the wayy... full support!!!" - David August: "Cool!" - KRL: "Yes!! guaranteed party smasher, going straight in the [...] bag for this weekend." - Kiko Navarro: "First reaction was an smile on my face [...] this one is thousand times better than the original. Now its a bit special situation to play this mix even the work is excellent because of the vox, depende where and how can be a bit too..." - Mike from Kolour Recordings: "What a great package and potential for record of 2011! go go go" - Social Disco Club: "Sounds like a hit.." - Jacques Renault: "Oh hell yes. [...] Great release, I'll be playing this for sure." - Pional: "Amazing!" - soho808: "Love the old school pianos and vibes!" - DJ Harri: "Liking this, especially daniel solar mixes" - Homework: "Loving the original and dub. Charting this right away." - Soul Minority: "Instant smile on your face!" - Salvatore Freda: "Wow! didn't expect to that one.... very like the dub version!!!" - Autodeep: "Crossing over 70's disco and 80's chicago vibes with 90's trash vocals? YESSSSSSSS :D Right up our alley!" - Toomy Disco: "Amazing vibes! 10/10 keep doin' this." - DJ Ionik from Kojak Giant Sounds: "Bravo! [...] if this thing doesn t get the party going you re most likely playing to a bunch of Perussuomalaiset. 10/10." - Sleazy McQueen: "This is ridiculously top notch material." - Scope aka Southwestseven: "RR Vocal mix for me.. BOMB!" - Show B.: "Well yeah... that's an anthem right there." - Satin Jackets: "Oooooooooohhhhh... I am getting ze goosebumps! Vonderfullllll :D" - Andres Bela from Raw Cutz: "Really like this release! All The tracks works for me." - Mario Aureo: "Awesome!" - David from House Of Disco: "This is one will remain in my favourites for the forseeable future"
This was fun. Next... DIKSO008 with tracks from Social Disco Club, Kitano aka Andy Hart, soho808 and Satin Jackets. Watch out...
After five Super Sound Singles here is Dikso's very first artist EP and of course it will be Daniel Solar's job to do the kick-off. His Retrospect EP features the most zippy stuff Dikso has released so far without being an ordinary house record. The percussion is minimalistically filigree, the atmosphere is fluffy and Aniya's voice on "Can You Really Know" comes direct from outer space... er... down under.
DIKSO 006 A1 - Daniel Solar - A Walk In The Park
Summer, sunshine, a picnic basket full of delicious food and wine and someone to share a walk in the park. Sounds cheesy? Yes, you are right... but remember that every park has its dark corners.
DIKSO 006 A2 - Daniel Solar feat. Aniya Ouu - Can You Really Know
Daniel teamed up with Aniya Ouu, the grand lady of "Melbourne Deepcast", a blog from a few down under brothers and sisters in spirit. Intercontinental and interblogospheric, interdisciplinary and... (fill in a word of your choice that begins with inter)
DIKSO 006 B1 - Daniel Solar - A Walk In The Park (The Revenge Remix)
Thee role model of Deepslowmonudiscoeditchicagoacidwhateverhouse. After finishing two longplayers earlier this year he spent some time to refine Daniel's track. The original shines through but everything is a little bit deeper, darker, stronger. It's still a walk in the park, but imagine the voices of owls and some undefinable dark shadows instead of wine, women & song.
DIKSO 006 B2 - Daniel Solar - A Walk In The Park (Pional Remix)
We still have his brilliant EP for Permanet Vacation in our ears and synapses and now he is here with a stirring remix for prime times and big rooms. The boys from Dikso borrowed Pional, probably Spains best kept secret, from John Talabot's Hivern Discs camp who delivers a real monster of a track. John, they have promised to give him back, later... someday... somehow...
Wie ihr den Klatschspalten der Tagespresse vielleicht schon entnommen habt, gibt die "Dead Rose Music Company" heute Abend zusammen mit uns ein Gastspiel in der Kleinen Reise. Elias, just Elias. Short, catchy and cut right to the chase. Like name like music...
Podcast number nine comes from Thessaloniki, Greece and brings us a wonderful mix of cool slowed down deep and dirty house stuff, some classic disco edits and right at the beginning an update for the coolest gal of contemporary r&b music - Aaliyah.
I am sure you know this typical shirt that you can buy in almost every shop that is selling souvenirs and other useless stuff those who stayed at home never asked for, it has writings like this: "My mom went to podunk town and all I got was this lousy shirt". They are as useless as slide shows or videos from culture travels or thousands of sickening facebook greetings from a place that seems so much better than your rainy home.
But a few people does it better, they carry things home that are really interesting, some experiences that can broaden your mind, new and different views and sometimes they just bring music. Marc Poppcke, one of Dikso's midwifes, is travelling a lot these days and some months ago he was invited to play at Thessaloniki's Bar Elvis, a nice venue with nice people and even nicer music. Elias is one of the residents at Bar Elvis and Marc was so impressed that he did not talked about the nice weather in Greece or the girls he met, he talked about Elias. And about Elias and about Elias.
To understand Marc's enthusiasm and why I have bursted with curiosity just listen to these 60 minutes and let us grab you... and wow you!
· Session Victim (Retreat, Wolf Music) · Daniel Solar (Sleazy Beats, Undertones, Dikso) · Andi de Luxe (Dikso, Barbarella)
Back to the roots, the roots of today's dance music and a way of appreciating it in the right way. To be honest, Daniel and me are part of the digital zeitgeist for years now, but I really, really like those people who are able to present good music in its purest form: two Mk-IIs, some pieces of holy wax and a lot of love and devotion for the soul in all of that.
Carina Ramos is one of those DJs that are able to do this, to her audience of scotish homies as well as at countless venues in the UK. Her musical role models were the godfathers of house and disco, Larry Levan, David Mancuso or Danny Krivit, to name only a few of her heroes You can discover these influences in every single of these 64 minutes full of soulful late seventies and early eighties disco mixed up with some nice edits and updates of that sound. Get ready for the soul in the soul...
DiKSO readers know him already, a very young talent from Australia, Griffin James aka The Francis Inferno Orchestra (sorry Grif for holding back the "the" in the past, we promise to improve...)
When disco music was on its peak he wasn't even born and if we start to talk about the roots of funk and soul music even his father might not have experienced this live and for real. But obviously something in classic dance music attracts a lot of young guys (and gals) these days. Maybe it's a backlash to the last years of dry minimalism or just the search for the history of contemporary dance music and the attempt to connect all these musical threads we pick up everyday from the web. It never was easier...
But back to FIO. "So Divine" from our first Dikso Records shows in a perfect way how to edit an electronic disco track from the early 80s in a way that creates uplifting house music without adding annoying beats or lifting up the tempo to necessarily fit in a commercial tië5to-esque playlist. But The Francis Inferno Orchstra is not only about that disco edit thing. In fact it's about slowed down house music that creates its deepness with funk and rhythm and not these endless and uniform string arrangements they want to sell us as "deep house" all the time.
We are so so proud of DiKSO podcast number seven, compiled and mixed by this young australian guy, welcome The Francis Inferno Orchestra...
DIKSO - Sa., 04. September 2010 FREIER Eintritt bis 24h (danach schmale € 5,-)

Was wer wie...:
Dikso feiert!
Kleine Reise, Spreewaldplatz 8, 10999 Berlin - Kreuzberg
DiKSO celebrates itself... The first DiKSO vinyl has hit the shops (and some charts...) and we are awaiting the 10th DiKSO edit. Watch out for some Italo Post Funk madness from downunder. Okay, who needs any reason to rock out... ;-)
"Kleine Reise" in Kreuzberg offered us their mighty place for this event, a place where acts like Soulphiction, Ali Ooft, Trickski, Tornado Wallace and even Pilooski (only to mention a very, very few...) played one after another. This is definitly an honour for us. Thanks mates!
Aaaah, what a summer. Okay, the weather is still springy, but the soccer world cup brought the first german walkovers and after some really nice open air parties here in Berlin I am on my way to start the festival season. Lying in the grass, drinking a lukewarm beer and listening to some relaxing music... and writing these words to you.
It's time for DiKSO podcast number five and what we have is something very, very special right from the big apple New York. I am so so proud to present you a wonderful mix from soundcloud's sleazy disco superstar NoRequests featuring a lot of unreleased and absolute top secret dikso... sorry, disco edits and some dubby slowmo house tracks.
So, listen to my advice: haunt an open countryside of your own choice, lie down in the grass, open a well tempered bottle of whiskey, beer or any other drink you like, put on your headphones and listen to these 73 minutes of acoustic spa. Alternatively dance like no one's watching, have a long walk at a near beach or cuddle your cat. This podcast is thee soundtrack for all of this. Have fun and take care ;-)
Wow, let me take a short break to review the past months. We are online for less than half a year but the feedback is amazing. Thanks for all the nice words and the interesting people we got in touch with. I am sure that all these new options will let us lead this DiKSO thing in a complete new direction, we will keep you updated.
Podcast number four comes with a lot of promising talents from the world of disco edits. Less big names but a lot of interesting music has been mixed up to a relaxed and aphrodisiac cocktail that leads us to the summer and its countless activities in the sun. We are so so looking forward to all these open air parties here in Berlin where we will spread love and lovely music.
Open your heart, your ass will follow...

History... We all know about the almighty creators of electronic music. They were important for everyone even though we did not know them in their time. In most cases they have not influenced us in a direct way but for sure they did. These stories have been written countless times and you all know them.
What I want to talk about are the direct influences and inspirations. Do you remember when friends took you to your first techno party? Or your bigger brother who had a huge record collection you was lurking when he was at school? Sometimes there were small and simple things that could lead you in a completly different direction. Like a mixtape and this is what DiKSO Tape is about.
The first issue in this new DiKSO section is a tape that I have listened more than a hundred times. It is a recording of an (for me) unknown radio show from Detroit with DJ extraordinaire Terrence Parker from the mid nineties.
Disco House was not that new in 1996 and already the big thing in my hometown Hannover but this tape was different. Terrence Parker combined the old and the new in a way that elaborated and pointed out the historical connection of disco, italo and house. Okay, the heavy scratch and transformer action is not everybody's cup of tea but it's fun, fun, fun! So, this is how a simple but special mixtape became the inspiration for me to collect soul, funk and disco and search for the history of house music in a time house music wasn't even born.

If someone has further informations on this radio show or is able to solve the question marks in the tracklist please contact me or write a comment.
Let me tell you something about Marc Poppcke. Don't panic, I won't start with "how it all began", even though i could. And I don't want to tell you about his recent releases on ultracool labels like Jimpster's Freerange Records. And for sure I will not mention his international DJ gigs.
No, I will tell you about a guy that has always been this and that. Of course it's all about four to the floor, he even wrote an assignment about this fact. But sometimes it's house, sometimes it's techno and it's even trance. And this time it's disco. Or is it disco house? Minimal disco? Slowmo trance? Who cares? Marc doesn't! Everytime you thought you got him he is up for something more.
Be aware, this is nothing for purists (und das ist auch gut so!), here is DiKSO podcast number three...

Yeah, this is number two of our monthly DiKSO podcast series. Daniel Solar, famous for his releases on labels like "Diynamic Music" and 50% of the well-known producer duo "Solar & Poppcke", did this wonderful compilation of weirdo disco edit madness. Actually I wanted to present you my highlights of this mix but everytime I listen to it I have a new favourite. It gets fresher every day...
By the way, watch out for the new Daniel Solar 12" Super Sound Single on "Sleazy Beats" that will be released in summer and also watch out for an unreleased disco edit available here on DiKSO in a few weeks...
